We're currently recruiting for a Technical Lead - Structural Engineering based in Melbourne for our client. The company is a growing EPC contractor delivering utility-scale renewable energy, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), high-voltage substations and electrical balance of plant (eBoP) infrastructure projects across Australia.

As part of a significant growth phase, they are seeking a Technical Lead - Structural Engineering to provide technical leadership across major energy infrastructure projects. This role will play a key part in developing internal engineering capability, driving design excellence and supporting the delivery of complex BESS, solar and substation projects from concept through to construction.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership across all stages of project delivery, from concept design through to construction support.
  • Lead the design, review and approval of structural engineering deliverables for BESS facilities, solar farms, substations and associated electrical balance of plant infrastructure.
  • Deliver structural designs including foundations, steel structures, equipment supports, platforms, enclosures and balance of plant structures.
  • Drive design optimisation, constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical and project delivery teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Review engineering calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineers and designers within the structural discipline.
  • Support project delivery and construction teams by resolving technical queries and site-related issues.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering standards, quality systems and best-practice methodologies.
Required Experience
  • Extensive experience delivering structural engineering design for utility-scale energy infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on BESS, solar, substation and electrical balance of plant (eBoP) projects.
  • Strong understanding of structural design requirements associated with HV substations, switchyards, equipment foundations and grid connection infrastructure.
  • Experience working within EPC, Design & Construct or Engineering Consultancy project environments.
  • Proven experience providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Standards, structural design codes and utility requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer - CPEng (preferred but not essential).
  • RPEQ, RPEV or equivalent registration (preferred but not essential).
