We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our client who operate in the power generation industry. Due to continued project growth, the business is seeking an experienced Engineer to support the delivery of multidisciplinary projects from concept through to detailed design and commissioning support.

This role will suit someone with strong technical capability across mechanical systems associated with power generation and energy infrastructure projects, who enjoys working within a collaborative consultancy environment and interfacing with clients, contractors, OEMs, and multidisciplinary engineering teams across the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver mechanical engineering design packages across power generation and energy infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, datasheets, layouts, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Support the design and development of mechanical systems associated with power generation facilities, including turbines, engines, heat exchangers, pumps, piping systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, pressure equipment, and balance of plant infrastructure.
  • Provide technical input into plant layout, equipment selection, maintainability, operability, and reliability considerations.
  • Coordinate technical inputs across multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, process, structural, civil, and control systems disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and technical workshops throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, OEMs, vendors, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with relevant Australian standards, client specifications, and industry best practice.
Required Experience
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering design work across power generation, utilities, or large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with mechanical systems associated with thermal power generation or industrial energy facilities, including rotating equipment, piping systems, cooling systems, pressure equipment, and balance of plant infrastructure.
  • Exposure to gas-fired generation, reciprocating engines, turbines, or other large industrial plant environments is highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of plant operations, reliability, and maintainability principles within complex industrial facilities.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing project priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
