Principal – Energy Markets

Overview:
We are seeking a Principal to join a specialist energy consultancy in Sydney, supporting complex engagements across wholesale electricity market modelling, investment advisory, and energy transition analysis.

This is a senior delivery and business development role for someone who can lead client engagements, drive analytical rigour across NEM modelling workflows, and contribute to the growth of the practice.

Responsibilities:

• Lead delivery of energy market modelling engagements across wholesale price forecasting, generation investment analysis, renewable energy due diligence, and ISP-aligned scenario modelling
• Build and maintain PLEXOS models to support client decision-making across the NEM
• Translate modelling outputs into clear, client-ready insights and recommendations
• Manage client relationships and contribute to business development including proposals and new mandates
• Mentor and manage junior analysts within the team

Required Experience:

• 7 or more years of experience in energy market modelling, wholesale market analysis, or quantitative energy advisory
• Demonstrated PLEXOS capability across NEM simulation, dispatch modelling, and long-run price forecasting
• Experience working in a consultancy environment with exposure to client-facing delivery
• Active involvement in business development within a consultancy setting is highly regarded
• Exposure to transaction support, asset valuation, PPAs, or market entry advisory is advantageous

Qualifications:

• Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline
• Postgraduate qualification advantageous
