Engagement Manager – Strategy

Overview:
A boutique strategy and investment advisory firm in Sydney is hiring an Engagement Manager to lead engagements at the intersection of strategy and capital. You will run commercial due diligence, investment thesis development, portfolio value creation and growth strategy work for private equity funds, infrastructure investors and corporate acquirers. You will lead small teams, own the analysis and present directly to investment committees, CEOs and boards.

This suits someone at Engagement Manager or equivalent level in a top tier strategy environment who wants deal exposure without leaving advisory, along with a faster path to Principal and a sustainable working model. The firm's partners come from the top of the profession and its clients are among the most active investors in the market.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead commercial due diligence and investment strategy engagements from scoping to final recommendation
  • Develop and pressure test investment theses, market models and value creation plans
  • Own day to day relationships with deal teams, investment committees and portfolio company executives
  • Structure ambiguous problems, set the analytical approach and quality assure team output under deal timelines
  • Coach consultants and senior consultants and contribute to firm building, including proposals and IP development

Required Experience:
  • Currently at, or recently exited from, a global top tier strategy consulting firm or leading strategy boutique
  • Operating at Engagement Manager, Case Team Leader, Project Leader or equivalent level
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial due diligence, transaction advisory or private equity focused engagements
  • Track record leading teams and owning senior client relationships on complex, fast moving engagements
  • Strong commercial judgement and clear, structured communication with investors and C suite stakeholders
  • Australian working rights

Qualifications:
  • Strong undergraduate degree from a leading university
  • MBA, CFA or relevant postgraduate qualification regarded favourably but not essential
