Overview:
We are seeking an Associate Director to join a specialist energy advisory practice in Sydney, taking a senior client-facing role advising on generation asset investment and market dynamics across the National Electricity Market.

This role forms part of a long term succession plan within the practice and offers genuine equity participation. You will lead engagements, interpret and challenge energy market modelling outputs and provide commercially focused advice to investors, developers and asset owners navigating Australia's energy transition.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise private sector clients on generation asset investment opportunities within the NEM
  • Interpret, challenge and quality assure energy market modelling outputs produced by the internal modelling team
  • Assess how existing and new generation assets perform under different market scenarios
  • Lead advisory engagements end to end including client management and delivery
  • Present market insights and investment recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Own and grow client relationships, contributing directly to practice development and revenue growth
  • Lead business development activity including proposals, client engagement and work winning

Required Experience:
  • Deep, practical understanding of the National Electricity Market and electricity market dynamics
  • Experience interpreting energy market modelling outputs and translating them into commercial insights
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to advise on generation asset investment decisions
  • Background in energy market advisory, economic consulting or strategy consulting with energy exposure
  • Proven ability to lead engagements autonomously and manage senior client relationships
  • Demonstrated track record in business development, work winning or growing client relationships at a senior level

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance or a related analytical discipline
