Manager – Secondary Systems & Network Design

We're currently recruiting for a Manager - Secondary Systems & Network Design for our client who operate in the transmission & distribution industry.

This position will oversee secondary systems and network design across major HV infrastructure projects and operational assets. The role will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for protection, SCADA, automation, and telecommunications systems while supporting long-term network strategy, technical governance, and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
• Oversee the delivery of secondary systems and network design programs to budget and schedule.
• Provide technical leadership across protection systems, SCADA, automation, IEC 61850, and telecommunications networks.
• Act as the technical authority for secondary systems engineering standards and network integrity.
• Support major infrastructure projects including substations, embedded generation, and network automation initiatives.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across asset management, planning, operations, and project delivery teams.
• Manage engineering consultants, contractors, and service providers.
• Drive continuous improvement across safety, engineering standards, productivity, and technical innovation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, regulatory obligations, and governance requirements.

Required Experience

• Significant experience within HV transmission and/or distribution infrastructure environments.
• Strong technical expertise across protection systems, SCADA, automation, and telecommunications networks.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
• Experience delivering engineering programs, asset replacement initiatives, and major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of HV network operations, maintenance, and asset management principles.
• Commercial and financial management experience, including operational and capital budgets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
