Secondary Design Engineer

Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Secondary Design Engineer based in Perth in a permanent role for our client who are an established organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector.

The position will be working on major Transmission & Distribution projects across Australia. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge in the design secondary systems and a proven track record in managing the design of large-scale transmission projects.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and review secondary system designs for high-voltage substations, including protection, metering, and control schemes.
• Produce single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings for protection and control systems.
• Perform equipment selection and configuration of protection relays, CTs, VTs, and communications systems.
• Collaborate with primary design engineers to ensure design integration across substation components.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as AS, IEC, or client-specific guidelines.
• Conduct technical reviews and design verifications to maintain quality assurance standards.
• Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to meet design deliverables and project timelines.
• Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases as needed.

Required Experience:

• Strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on substation secondary design and HV systems.
• Proficiency in protection and control system design for transmission and distribution substations.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools for design and analysis.
• Strong technical analysis and report generation skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of industry standards and specifications.
• Experience in tender preparation.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent.
