We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join a leading organisation delivering critical high-voltage substation projects across Victoria. Based in Melbourne, this role will play a key part in the successful energisation and handover of major transmission and distribution infrastructure.

Working across greenfield and brownfield substation projects, you will lead all commissioning activities, ensuring systems are tested, compliant, and safely brought online in line with utility and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end commissioning activities across HV substation projects
  • Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules
  • Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) activities with OEMs and vendors
  • Oversee commissioning of primary plant including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and busbars
  • Manage testing and commissioning of secondary systems including protection relays and control systems
  • Review and approve ITPs, ITRs, switching programs, and commissioning documentation
  • Lead energisation planning and execution, ensuring all safety and compliance requirements are met
  • Interface with utilities, asset owners, and key stakeholders throughout commissioning and handover phases
  • Manage commissioning teams, subcontractors, and specialist testing providers
  • Ensure compliance with Australian standards, utility requirements, and project specifications
  • Drive a strong safety culture across all commissioning activities
  • Support project delivery teams to mitigate risks and ensure timely completion
Required Experience
  • Extensive experience in commissioning HV substations within the Transmission & Distribution sector
  • Proven experience in a Commissioning Manager or Senior Commissioning Engineer role
  • Strong technical knowledge of primary and secondary systems within substations
  • Hands-on experience with protection systems, relay testing and control systems
  • Demonstrated experience managing FAT/SAT and substation energisation processes
  • Strong understanding of Australian standards and network/utility requirements
Qualifications
  • Relevant electrical licences or certifications
