We are seeking a technically strong and commercially driven Sales Engineer to join a leading Virtual Power Plant (VPP) organisation in Sydney. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and sales, supporting the growth of distributed energy solutions including battery storage, solar, demand response, and grid services.
You will work closely with commercial, technical, and customer stakeholders to design, position, and deliver tailored VPP solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. The role requires a deep understanding of energy markets, DER technologies, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear value propositions.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the sales team by providing technical expertise across VPP and distributed energy solutions
- Engage with customers to understand their energy needs and develop tailored technical solutions
- Design and scope systems including battery storage, solar PV, and demand response integration into VPP platforms
- Prepare technical proposals, presentations, and tender documentation
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure solution feasibility and deliverability
- Assist in pricing, financial modelling, and business case development for VPP offerings
- Support contract negotiations by clarifying technical requirements and risks
- Contribute to product development by feeding back customer and market insights
- Experience in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Sales role within the energy, renewables, or utilities sector
- Strong knowledge of distributed energy resources (DER), including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, and energy management systems
- Understanding of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) concepts and participation in energy markets (e.g. FCAS, wholesale markets, demand response)
- Proven ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value propositions
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline
