Overview
We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer - Data Centres to join our client's Sydney or Melbourne office in a permanent capacity.

Our client is a leading engineering company specialising in the design and delivery of mission-critical infrastructure across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale and colocation data centre projects, this role offers exposure to some of the most advanced and technically demanding electrical systems in Australia.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver end-to-end electrical design for data centres, including HV/LV power distribution, earthing, and standby power systems.
  • Develop detailed single-line diagrams, load flow studies, and equipment specifications.
  • Produce design documentation including schematics, layouts, and cable schedules.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Australian Standards and client specifications (Tier III/IV).
  • Liaise with utilities for network connections, load planning, and capacity upgrades.
  • Support design reviews, FATs, and commissioning activities.
  • Integrate sustainability and energy-efficiency principles into design solutions.

Required Experience:
  • Previous experience in building services, critical infrastructure, or data centre design (preferred).
  • Sound knowledge of HV/LV systems, standby generation, UPS, and earthing systems.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, PowerCAD, ETAP, or Revit.
  • Familiarity with AS/NZS 3000, 3011, and related data centre standards.
  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work across multiple design stages.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
