Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer for Substations in a permanent role for our client who are an established but growing organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector. The role would ideally be based in Sydney but our client is also open to Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne or Hobart.
 
The position will be joining the project team for a multi-billion dollar Transmission & Distribution project in Australia.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the detailed design phase of major substation projects.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring all milestones are met.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the design phase.
  • Communicate project status, changes, and updates to clients regularly.
  • Ensure client requirements and specifications are clearly understood and incorporated into the design.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the design team.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Review and approve technical documents and drawings.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and select appropriate vendors based on project requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to resolve any technical or delivery issues.
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures during the design phase.
  • Conduct design reviews and audits to ensure high standards of quality.
  • Address any non-conformities and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders.
Required Experience:
  • Previous experience working on substation projects is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of substation systems, equipment, and design standards.
  • Excellent project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools relevant to project management
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
