Distribution Design Lead

Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Distribution Design Lead in a permanent role for our client who are an established but growing organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector. The role would ideally be based in Hobart but our client is also open to Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
The position will be joining the project team for a multi-billion-dollar Transmission & Distribution project in Australia. The role requires a thorough understanding of electrical distribution systems, regulatory standards, and project management principles. The ideal candidate will lead the Distribution design side of the project to ensure the successful and timely delivery of project objectives.
 
Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of distribution networks for transmission and distribution projects.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety requirements.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed design drawings, specifications, and documentation for distribution systems.
• Review and approve design calculations, models, and plans to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility.
• Implement design changes and updates as necessary to accommodate project needs or address technical challenges.
• Act as the primary point of contact for design-related matters, facilitating communication between internal and external stakeholders.
• Present design proposals, progress reports, and technical findings to clients, regulatory bodies, and senior management.
• Address and resolve any design-related issues or concerns raised by stakeholders.
• Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure high standards of design work.
• Conduct regular design reviews and audits to identify and address potential issues.

Required Experience:

• Extensive experience in electrical distribution design.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery in large-scale distribution projects.
• Strong knowledge of distribution systems, including design principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• In-depth understanding of electrical engineering principles, load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
• Strong understanding of safety standards and practices in electrical distribution projects.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
